Firstly, I suppose I should apologise for the appalling pun in the title, I just couldn’t resist. Love a pun, #sorrynotsorry.
Until last year I would have classed animal print as Autumn/Winter appropriate only – plus a bit out there and certainly not the ‘new neutral’ that I consider it now. All that changed last summer when I fell in love with a pair of cheetah print skater shoes from Next, one of my favourite pairs of flats in my wardrobe. Sadly now OOS, or I would be snapping up a replacement/spare pair sharpish.
Scooting round Bluewater yesterday I spotted a few fab pairs of animal print footwear in Warehouse – these skaters, which are a decent option to replace my fading Next ones (albeit a bit more expensive, but they are leather).
I also saw – but don’t appear to have taken a picture of – this pair of boots which would be perfect in S/S with a denim shirt dress and then into A/W as well. Imagine with coated skinnies and an oversized sweater….
And these perfect pointed ballet pumps – ideal for Spring (please it is coming – isn’t it?). I’d wear with top-to-toe black, or with distressed denim and a black silky tee; this French Connection one is perfect, comes in lots more colours in store – picked up a mink/grey one yesterday – not online sadly.
A great way to make animal print more spring appropriate is to go for lighter shades….these two colourways from the Alice’s Wonders Leopard Print Scarf range fit the bill perfectly:

And proof of my animal print affection – went for the double yesterday. The aforementioned Next cheetah skaters worn with my current favourite – the Beige and Stone Leopard Print Scarf.
A quick mention to the new Beige Fold Over Clutch in the first image on this blog. An absolute perfect foil to yesterday’s animal print accessories, don’t you think?
I love a bit of animal print! I have more pairs of shoes, scarves and assorted accessories than I could possibly count…Still, it’s so versatile – and a real classic – that I don’t think it would do any harm to add more to the collection, would it? 😉 xx
